IIM Kashipur lies in the heartland of India, Uttarakhand. Its location is its USP, name the factor which makes a B-school great and you’ve it on a stone’s throw at Kashipur, be it the strategically devised location of IIM Kashipur or its proximity to India’s most favorite tourism sit. We’ll delve into these details but first let me walk you through how the North got its first IIM. It was part of the 2nd generation IIM’s which were set up during the Eleventh Five Year Plan. The foundation stone of the institute was laid on 29 April 2011. It was the first IIM in the North, it was followed by more IIMs in the North in the form of IIM Sirmaur, IIM Amritsar and IIM Jammu which were set up during 2015–16.
Now, the question which would come in every B-school aspirant’s mind is- How is the campus? Our campus is designed by none other than Shapoorji Pallonji group. We shifted to our permanent campus in 2015 which has been fully operational since then. The campus is spread over a vast area of 200 acres. The campus is full of greenery and this place has the cleanest of air you will ever breathe. In the center of the campus is an open theatre which is the place where all the cultural events take place. We’ve lots of sports facilities on our campus as well, basketball court, soccer field, etc. We’ve libraries in the academic block which have got every book a management student needs to go through. Wi-fi connectivity is super strong in libraries, classrooms, and even in the hostel. Most of the students need good rooms and you’ll find really spacious rooms in IIM Kashipur. We’ve got multiple blocks of buildings. In each building, we’ve 24 rooms, 6 rooms on each floor with basic facilities like a refrigerator on each floor.
Location plays a very big role in the growth of an educational institute. The location of an institute is an important factor that drives recruiters towards that campus. The campus of IIM Kashipur lies on the Industrial belt which stretches from Sitarganj, Rudrapur to Kashipur. The industrial area of Pantnagar is at a distance of 64km from IIM Kashipur. The Pantnagar’s industrial area houses the biggest companies of India like Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, Dabur International, Nestle, etc. Because of its proximity to this industrial area, the students of IIM Kashipur get a lot of industry exposure. Several guest lectures are scheduled on a regular basis so that the students could interact and learn from the Managers of these companies.
IIM Kashipur apart from making the students go through its rigorous two-year program also provides the students with a much-needed break. Uttarakhand is the state with a lot to explore, it is one of the most beautiful states of India. Places like Nainital, Jim Corbett, Bhimtal, and Mukteshwar are nearby, so whenever you get time these are the places to explore.
